A redevelopment program — also known as “Cemetery Renewal” — is ongoing at Karrakatta Cemetery. This process involves the mass removal of headstones and plot markers to make way for new graves.
The government agency responsible, the Metropolitan Cemeteries Board, claims that redevelopment is “dignified” and “respectful” — but we think these photos prove otherwise.
